Florence For the First Time

With this dreamy travel itinerary, your first time in Florence, Italy will certainly not be your last.

GELATERIA DELLA PASSERA

Awarded the best gelato in Florence for a reason - you’ll find Gelateria Della Passera in a bustling courtyard in the Santo Spirito neighborhood of Florence. You’re unlikely to arrive without seeing a line of locals patiently waiting to order the delectably creamy treat. I tried fragole e crema (strawberries and cream) and returned each day for another scoop.

Piazzale Michelangelo

Looking for the best place to watch the sunset in Florence? Look no further than Piazzale Michelangelo, the picturesque steps overlooking the entire city. Be ready to hike uphill (or just take a taxi) - but it’s beyond worth it.

Vintage Photo Booths

Be on the lookout for Florence’s famous vintage photo booths sprinkled around the city. Ensure you have euros in hand to capture the moment.

Uffizi Gallery

Spend an afternoon admiring one of the most stunning collections of Renaissance art in the world at the Uffizi Gallery. The Uffizi Gallery features the Birth of Venus, the Medusa, Adam and Eve, and gorgeous views from the higher floors. Get skip the line tickets ahead of time using a site like Viator.

OSTERIA SANTO SPIRITO

Known for their Truffle Gnocci, large portion sizes, and extreme affordability - this family owned restaurant is at the top of my list. Their Mussel Soup (Zuppa de Cozze) is a MUST try - it was one of the most flavorful meals I tried during my trip to Florence. Make a reservation ahead of time via email, otherwise arrive at Osteria Santo Spirito around 10PM to try to secure a table.

Academia Galleria

The Academia Galleria is best known for featuring Michelangelo's sculpture David. It is beyond worth the cost to see David in person, amongst the many other statues and displays. Buy skip the line tickets ahead of time.

La Buchetta

La Buchetta was easily one of the most memorable dining experiences I've ever had. We ordered Florentine Steak, which is a local speciality that you can only order by the oz. I highly recommend their house red wine and their Truffle Pasta, served in a pecorino wheel with fresh black truffle grated overtop. The menu is entirely in Italian, but the servers are phenomenal and go out of their way to explain every dish. It's a very romantic restaurant, and is on the pricier end (but still less than $250 for two) - perfect for a special date night.

PONTE VECCHIO

Completed in 1345, the Ponte Vecchio is a living piece of medieval history with stunning views of the Arno River. You must cross the bridge at least once during your time in Florence, - it is truly magical.
